He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 To him you attend; 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 and fearfully, 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 May man be slain how ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 olives, dates, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
Almighty God's Truth.
