He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 To him you give attention. 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And he feareth 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Noble and pious. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what has God created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 olives, dates, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 and covered by darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
