He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 You neglect. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Noble and righteous. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 Olives and dates, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
