He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And he feareth 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 olives, dates, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
