He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him you give attention. 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And whereas he fears, 9 you pay him no heed. 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 Olives and dates, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
