He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
