He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 and in awe of God 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 lofty and pure, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 and let the earth to break open 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 and covered by darkness. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
