He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and in awe [of God] 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and herbage 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 laughing and joyous 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
