He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and in awe of God 9 You neglect. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 lofty and pure, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces will shine, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
