He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 to him thou attendest 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 and who has fear of God, 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Noble and pious. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 How We pour water in showers 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
