He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 to him thou attendest 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 lofty and pure, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 olives, dates, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
