He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 You neglect. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 How We pour water in showers 25 and let the earth to break open 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
