He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 you attended to him, 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and who has fear of God, 9 you ignore him. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 noble and pious. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
