He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 and in awe of God 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 On honoured leaves 13 uplifted, purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 and olives and palms, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And from his mother and father, 35 wife and sons, 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
