He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 So you are after him! 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We send down abundant water, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 and dense orchards, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing and joyous 39 but others will be gloomy 40 and covered by darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
