He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 and in awe of God 9 you pay him no heed. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 and let the earth to break open 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 his mother, his father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
True are the words of God the Almighty.
