He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 To him you attend; 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and who has fear of God, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 laughing and joyous 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
