He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 To him you give attention. 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And he fears, 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 his mother, his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
Almighty Allah's Truth.
