He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 You pay full attention, 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 and dense orchards, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
