He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 You pay full attention, 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And whereas he fears, 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 How We pour water in showers 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruits and herbage 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 but others will be gloomy 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
