He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 noble and purified. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Dust shall cover them 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
