He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 For him who does not care, 5 You pay full attention, 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and purified. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
