He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And he feareth 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And dense gardens, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
