He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and in awe of God 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble and pious. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
