He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 To him you give attention. 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and in awe [of God] 9 you ignore him. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and purified. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
