He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and who has fear of God, 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
