He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
