He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And he fears, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 Olives and dates, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
