He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 to a rich man, 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and who has fear of God, 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 Not this way this is the advice. 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 olives, dates, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 And his mother and his father 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 and covered by darkness. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
Almighty Allah's Truth.
