He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 and fearfully, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And olives and palms 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
