He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 You pay full attention, 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 and fearfully, 9 You neglect. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
