He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 You pay full attention, 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And he fears, 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
