He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 when the blind came to him. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And he fears, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 Olives and dates, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 and his consort and his children; 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
