He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 exalted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 noble, pious. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 Olives and dates, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
