He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 So you are after him! 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 and in awe [of God] 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and pious. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 How We pour water in showers 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 olives, dates, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 his mother, his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
