He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 you attend to him, 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And he feareth 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And olives and palms 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
