He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him you attend; 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 noble and pious. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 to yield therein corn, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
Almighty God's Truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
