He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 You pay full attention, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And he fears, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 and from his mother and father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 laughing, joyous; 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
