He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 to a rich man, 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 uplifted, purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
