He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 to him thou attendest 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And hath fear, 9 you ignore him. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Noble and pious. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And olives and palms 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 his consort, his sons, 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
