He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 To him you attend; 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 You neglect. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 May man be slain how ungrateful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
