He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 when the blind came to him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 To him you attend; 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And he fears, 9 You neglect. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 exalted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
