He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
