He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 to him thou attendest 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And he feareth 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
