He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 You pay full attention, 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And he feareth 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
