He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 So you are after him! 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
