He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 and covered by darkness. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
