He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 to a rich man, 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 and in awe [of God] 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 mother, father, 35 wife and sons, 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
