He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 when the blind came to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 To him you attend; 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 On honourable pages. 13 most exalted and purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Noble and pious. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Dust shall cover them 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
