He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 To him you attend; 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 you pay him no heed. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 with darkness overspread: 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
